About Lancer Lunatics

MISSION:
The Lancer Lunatics organization aims to build tradition and respect by unifying the Longwood community and promoting Lancer PRIDE.  This organization will support Longwood Athletic teams through creating a “buzz” around all home events, and by attending competitions.

VISION:
Inspire SPIRIT in the Longwood Community by creating a lively atmosphere at sporting events. To inherit a “home field advantage” for all sports with a loyal, loud, and fanatical student fan base.

OBJECTIVE:
Lancer Lunatics will attend home competitions to cheer and support the athletes. The Lunatics will start chants and familiarize the general student population with a series of chants and songs that will be part of the Longwood culture. These chants and songs will be repeated at numerous sporting events, while each sport may have a specific chant of their own as well. The large population of Lancer Lunatics will serve as the “cheer” leaders in an effort to create a “PUMPED” atmosphere. The Lunatics will always stand in a specified section of the venue called “The Wood Works.”

BENEFITS/INCENTIVES:
Along with the benefit, and honor, of being a part of the beginning of a rich tradition, Lancer Lunatics will receive prizes and incentives throughout the school year. As a member of Lancer Lunatics, students will initially receive the Lancer Lunatics Discount Card and Lancer Lunatics T-shirt to proudly show their Lancer Pride when attending sporting events.

The members of the Lancer Lunatics will be further awarded based on a point system. Each sporting event will be worth Lancer Points, with specific games being worth more than others.  Promotions will be held throughout each season for opportunities to receive additional Lancer Points.  Bonus Days will be announced in advance, giving Lancer Lunatics an opportunity to earn more points than normally allocated for a specific competition or event. In order to receive these points, the member must be present by the cut-off time for each event, and remain for a pre-determined time (changes for each sport*). Students are encouraged to arrive to the game early to ensure they will receive points.
